Samworth Brothers is one of the UK’s leading chilled food producers, and is the owner of the Ginsters brand of savoury foods. It also produces premium own label foods across many different categories for the UK supermarkets. Samworth Brothers employs 7,000 people and will have sales of over £700m this year, organic growth having fuelled a six-fold increase in size over the last 15 years. The business is 100% family-owned, and traces its roots back to 1896. Mark is the 4th generation of the family to work in the business and is the only family member currently employed in it. Now 39, he started his career outside Samworth Brothers before joining the business in 1994 and has worked in all areas at all levels. He is a Director of the Holdings and Executive Boards and chairs three of its operating subsidiaries. Mark also undertakes much of the “family” role in chairing the family Trusts.
