Founded in 1905, D C Thomson & Co Ltd produce more than 200m magazines, newspapers and comics each year, including Beano, The Sunday Post and The People’s Friend. The company employs nearly 2000 people across multiple sites and is the largest major national publisher remaining in Fleet Street. The evening will be chaired by Michael Walker, who as well as being Chairman of family owned Walkers Shortbread, is also Chairman of Scottish Friendly Assurance Society Ltd., Broadgate PR, the London-based financial PR company and is a former Chairman of Maclay Murray & Spens. There will be ample opportunity for roundtable discussions on some of the issues with which family businesses are confronted during these turbulent times.
