THE VOICE OF UK FAMILY BUSINESS
Family business is the backbone of the UK economy, and the bedrock of its communities. IFB is the voice of the UK family business sector.
IFB is politically neutral and the organisation is uniquely equipped to contribute constructively and positively to policy debates on family business issues.
IFB works to raise awareness of the contribution and scale of the UK family business sector. We engage with Government, Parliamentarian, and policy makers on a cross party basis to deliver policies which support family businesses in their long term ambitions to thrive and grow.
IFB meets regularly with Government Ministers, MPs and Officials to ensure that the needs of family business are understand and considered as policy is developed. We regularly respond to consultations and make submissions to Government. Copies of these submissions are published on this site.
IFB sponsors and provides Secretariat support to the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Family Business.
The primary activities of the IFB Representation are:
- Developing a understanding of the importance of the family business sector so that the UK Government retains and adopts policies that encourage family businesses to continue to grow, invest and create employment.
- Build an evidence base on the strengths of the family business sector and its vital contribution to the UK economy
- Raise awareness of the family business sector through the media and opinion formers
- Engage with parliamentarians and other key stakeholders
IFB is a trade association member of the CBI, ensuring that family business issues are promoted by the UK's leading industry representation body.
We also work with our colleagues at European Family Businesses (EFB) to ensure that the voices of UK family firms are heard at a European level.
