The IFB Debating Society: ‘In-laws should be outlawed when it comes to the family business’
22nd April 2021, 16:00 - 18:00
Event Venue: Online via Zoom
‘It is better to debate a question without settling it than to settle a question without debating it’ Joseph Joubert, French Moralist & Essayist. Our upcoming session will take place on Thursday 22 April and we will debate the motion ‘In-laws should be outlawed when it comes to the family business'.
Families tend to have polarising views on whether in-laws, even if highly qualified, should work in the family business. Some forbid in-laws from joining the family business altogether, keeping ownership rights and jobs for blood relatives, whereas others have a fully inclusive policy that welcomes in-laws. Both approaches have their pros and cons and this is often a key topic of debate in a lot of business families.
Chris Bailey, NG Bailey alongside another guest will be arguing for and against the motion respectively. The debate will be facilitated by Juliette Johnson (Juliette Johnson Consultancy).
