Hugh Clark Appointed as Chairman of the Institute for Family Business
10th May 2017
The Institute for Family Business (IFB) has appointed Hugh Clark, member of the C & J Clark family, as incoming Chairman. Hugh will take over from Peter Armitage, OCS Group, who has led the UK’s family business organisation for the past three years.
Hugh has worked in various roles within his family business and has been actively involved with the IFB as Non-Executive Director since 2012. His own family business, the world renowned Clarks shoes, is a founder member of the IFB, the non-profit membership organisation supporting UK family firms to thrive and grow.
Peter Armitage, outgoing IFB Chairman, said: “I was honoured to guide the IFB as Chairman for the past three years. As my term comes to an end in June, I am delighted to pass the baton on to Hugh. As a member of a prominent and much-loved family business, with long-standing experience and great passion for the sector, Hugh will bring very interesting perspectives and a deep understanding of the opportunities and complexities of family firms. I warmly welcome him and wish him best of luck in this new endeavour”.
Hugh Clark, incoming IFB Chairman, said: “I am very excited to join the IFB team and its growing community of family businesses. Whilst I am not new to the IFB, having been a Non-Executive Director since 2012, I am thrilled at the opportunity to follow in Peter’s footsteps. I look forward to working closely with the IFB team and to connecting with fellow members”.
